Books I read and finished in April
This month I had my first reading slump, so all of my reading plans went out the window and I only read 2 books, 1 audio book and 2 graphic novels. The audio book I listened to was a new release I had heard good things about, We Set the Dark on Fire, and I ended up giving it 2/5 stars. I read the short story collection Lizard by Banana Yoshimoto which I gave 4/5 stars. Then I read Other Words for Smoke which I devoured in 2 days and gave me a reading slump because I enjoyed it so much.
Seeing as I couldn’t pick up another novel, I decided to finish reading Saga instead and read the last 2 volumes which I gave 4/5 and 5/5 stars. Then finally, after who knows how many days, I picked up The Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami and thankfully it got me reading again. It is one of the more chunky books by him but I am just taking my time and enjoying it which is just what I need to do at the moment. I can always seem to rely on Japanese authors to get me going again. I’m still making my way through it but so far it is a 5/5 star read for me.
May TBR
I’m not really giving myself a TBR for May, I’m just going to read what takes my fancy which will probably consist mainly of Japanese author novellas. It has been a couple of months since I finished reading Queen of Shadows in the Throne of Glass series and I feel like continuing so I will try and make my way through Empire of Storms in May.
Favourite K-Pop releases in April
- BTS – Boy With Luv
- Minhyun – Universe
- Twice – Fancy
- TXT – Cat & Dog
- BlackPink – Kill This Love
- Nu’est – BET BET
Other plans
I’ve started doing weekly book giveaways on Twitter so go follow me and enter if you’re from the UK. I’m also thinking of hosting monthly Japanese readalongs on here and Twitter where I basically pick a book by a Japanese author to read that month and other people can read it too if they want and at the end of the month I’ll do a spoiler blog post where we can chat about the book, let me know if this is something you’d be interested in! I’ll post an official announcement for it in the near future.
Animal Crossing for Nintendo Switch update: STILL NO NEWSSSS
YAY! I’m glad Murakami is getting you out of your reading slump hehe. And somehow I’m not at all surprised by your fave K-Pop choices… 😛
And of course, if you do a Japanese read-a-long thingy I would love to join in 😉
